With more than twenty-nine years of service for the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Superintendent Jose Mojica’s leadership is underpinned by a robust background in law enforcement training and crisis management. Since his date of his arrival to the Department in July of 1995, Supt. Mojica’s role over the years has encompassed the supervision of critical units including K9, the Tactical Response Team and Task Force Officers group., ensuring the Departments readiness and effectiveness in high-stakes situations.

Beginning as a Jail Officer, Superintendent Mojica advanced up the ranks, becoming the Assistant Deputy Superintendent of Training and was responsible for the annual staff development of approximately 1,100 employees. He filled that role for the past eleven years before his appointment to become the Superintendent of Security and Operations for the Nashua Street Jail in 2024.

He is currently a member of the Municipal Police Training Committee’s (MPTC) Use of Force team and is certified as a Use of Force and Defensive Tactics Instructor Trainer, also certified as a Firearms instructor, Less lethal instructor, Applied patrol procedures instructor, Mental Health First Aid instructor, and active shooter response instructor.

Jose is a recipient of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA) trilogy award, Force Science De-escalation Instructor, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC)Use of force instructor, recognized as an instructor by the National De-escalation Training Center, Report Writing Instructor and has completed the FBI Basic crisis negotiations course.

He is also a graduate of the New England Jail Leadership Academy (NEJLA) and is bilingual, fluent in Spanish. Supt. Mojica employs a rigorous adherence to policies and is committed to elevating law enforcement standards, with a focus on delivering top-tier training and fostering a culture of safety and excellence within the Department.

Superintendent Mojica is certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) which was enacted in 2020 as part of Chapter 253, An Act Relative to Justice Equity and Accountability in Law Enforcement in the Commonwealth.
