SHERIFF TOMPKINS CELEBRATES ST. PATRICK’S DAY IN SOUTH BOSTON
Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins sat in on the dais for the Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
The annual celebration was led by Senator Linda Dorcena Forry – the first woman and first Haitian–American to hold such a distinction. Senator Forry dedicated the celebration to former Mayor Thomas Menino, who was recently diagnosed with an advanced form of cancer.
There were numerous distinguished figures in attendance, including the Prime Minister of Ireland himself, Enda Kenny; Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick; Boston Mayor Martin Walsh; U.S. Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey; and several other State representatives, City Councilors, other elected officials and community leaders.
The event was filled with scores of jokes and laughter from all of the speakers, humorous video presentations from many of the elected officials, musical performances, and Irish sing–a–longs.
Following the event, Sheriff Tompkins was more than pleased to have been part of such a joyous affair.
“This was a great celebration,” said Sheriff Tompkins. “It was so well put together and everyone had a great time. People came from all over to be a part of this event and I commend Senator Forry on the excellent job she did in putting everything together. In our busy and often serious vocations, It’s very refreshing to come to an event like this where we celebrate people and share our good humor.”
