SHERIFF TOMPKINS LENDS SUPPORT TO BOSTON CHAMBER OF COMMERCE’S 20TH ANNUAL PINNACLE AWARDS

Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins recently attended the 20th annual Pinnacle Awards, hosted by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and held at the Copley Place Marriot in Boston.

The Pinnacle Awards honor business and professional women who have demonstrated excellence in entrepreneurship, management, and lifetime achievement. Typically attracting more than 1,000 attendees, it is one of the premiere gatherings of women (and men) in the region.

This year’s awards luncheon was the largest in the history of the event, with 1,200 registered people in attendance. In addition to Sheriff Tompkins, one of those attending was Boston’s longest serving mayor, Tom Menino, whose wife Angela Faletra Menino was honored with the 20th Anniversary Pinnacle Award.

In addition to the former First Lady of Boston, other award recipients included: Harvard University President Drew Faust, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Sheila Lirio Marcelo, the founder and CEO of Care.com, who received an Achievement in Entrepreneurship Award; Linda Connly, the Senior Vice President of Global Inside Sales, EMC Corporation, who received the Achievement in Management, Private Award; Congresswoman Niki Tsongas who received an Achievement in Government Award; Sylvia Ferrell–Jones, the President and CEO of YWCA Boston, who received the Achievement in Management, Non–profit, Award; Carolyn E. Kloek, MD, an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and the Clinical Director of Massachusetts Eye and Ear, Longwood, who received the Achievement in the Professions Award; President and CEO of Boston Medical Center Kate Walsh received the Excellence in Healthcare, Arts and Education Award; and Diana C. Pisciotta, the Executive Vice President of Denterlein, who received the Emerging Executive Award.

Following the ceremony, Sheriff Tompkins expressed his admiration for the day’s awardees and spoke about the need for positive events like the Pinnacle Awards, which help to bring hope and inspiration to people.

“I’m always glad to participate in events like the Pinnacle Awards,” said Sheriff Tompkins. “It’s important to be a part of events that highlight what’s right with our community and what we are capable of achieving. I congratulate all of today’s award recipients for their hard work and determination.”
