As one of the largest correctional institutions in the northeast, and the largest in Massachusetts, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department employs more than 1,000 custody and non–custody staff to help ensure the efficient and effective operations of the Department’s two facilities – the Suffolk County House of Correction and the Nashua Street Jail – as well as comprehensive off–site training center.
To meet the demands required in carrying out the critical day–to–day operations of the Department, a series of Divisions were established, each tasked with specialized and unique functions that work in unison to continue the Department’s primary directive – to ensure the safe care, custody and control of our inmate and detainee population while seeking ways to reduce offender recidivism.
