March 31, 2016Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department women’s programming has been redesigned to meet the specific needs of female offenders by giving them the necessary tools to reintegrate successfully back into society. There are approximately 200 women housed at the Suffolk County House of Correction on a daily basis and female offenders have more unique characteristics and needs that differ greatly from male offenders. You will hear first-hand accounts on issues such as, dropping out of high school, being single mothers, substance abuse addictions and how these programs are helping them receive the support they need.
