The K-9 Division

The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department currently utilizes five officer/K-9 teams. Three of the canines are cross-trained in Patrol and Narcotics. The two other canines have singular training, with one specializing in Patrol and the other specializing in Narcotics.

Lieutenant Corey Lewis is paired with K-9 partner “Jax,” a German Shepherd trained in Patrol and Narcotics.

Corporal Tim Frates is paired with K-9 “Joka,” a German Shepherd specializing in Patrol.

Corporal Robert Connelly is paired with K-9 “Shadow,” a German Shepherd trained in Patrol and Narcotics.

Deputy Julie Wilder is paired with K-9 “Tucker,” a Labrador Retriever specializing in Narcotics.

Deputy William Jackson is paired with K-9 “Kai,” a German Shepherd trained in Patrol and Narcotics.

These canine teams provide additional security for Department facilities and search for narcotics inside the House of Correction and the Nashua Street Jail, as well as assist other law enforcement agencies in searches for narcotics, fleeing felons, or lost children.
