Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins has placed a friendly wager on the upcoming Super Bowl with his counterpart in Seattle, King County Sheriff John Urquhart.
In the thoroughly unlikely and hard–to–imagine scenario that the Seahawks win, Sheriff Tompkins will send a dozen lobster tails from Luberto’s Bakery in Revere, Mass. In the much more likely event that the Patriots win their fourth Super Bowl of the Brady–Belichik era, the men and women of the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department will feast on a dozen 12th Man cupcakes from Cupcake Royale along with a selection of Fran’s Chocolates.
“The King County Sheriff’s Department is one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the country and the Seahawks are a solid team, but the Lombardi Trophy is coming back to New England in two weeks, ” Sheriff Tompkins said.
Last July, Luberto’s found itself in the path of a powerful tornado that damaged a number of homes and businesses in Revere and Chelsea. With help from their neighbors in Suffolk County and beyond, the people of those communities rallied together to recover from their misfortune, and will soon be able to celebrate another Patriots Super Bowl victory.
Offering a counterpoint to Sheriff Tompkins, King County Sheriff Urquhart stated,” The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department and the New England Patriots may have a strong history, but the Seahawks and the 12th Man have destiny on their side. No fan of the Seahawks will ever lose faith in our team’s ability to win the big game.”
