SHERIFF TOMPKINS INCREASES SNOW REMOVAL ASSISTANCE TO BOSTON

BOSTON – Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins has ordered an increase in snow removal assistance to the City of Boston through Monday’s holiday. Starting today, seven Community Works Program (CWP) crews made up of 25 inmates will be deployed along with 36 cadets currently assigned to the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department Training Academy.

Boston – As Suffolk County continues to dig out from record breaking snow storms, the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department’s Community Works Program has kicked into high gear, deploying teams of inmate workers and Deputy Sheriffs to help remove tons of snow from handicap ramps, sidewalks, crosswalks and city streets.

Suffolk County Sheriff Steven W. Tompkins recently served as a panelist for the “Summit on Reform, Re–Entry and Results: Promoting Progress in the Criminal Justice System” convened by Governor Deval Patrick, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and Mass INC., and hosted by the University of Massachusetts at Boston.
